Truck Radiator

A Dura-Lite truck radiator is a critical part of the trucks cooling system; its function is to dissipate heat from the engine to prevent overheating. It does so by transferring heat from the circulating engine coolant to the air.

The main components of a truck radiator are:

  • Core: The main part where heat exchange occurs, typically made of aluminum or copper with thin fins to maximize surface area.
  • Tanks: Located on either side of the core, the tanks hold the coolant entering and leaving the radiator.
  • Inlet and Outlet Ports: These allow coolant to flow into and out of the radiator.
  • Fan: Mounted between the engine and the radiator to increase airflow and improve cooling efficiency.
  • Pressure Cap: Maintains the pressure in the cooling system, raising the boiling point of the coolant.
  • Hoses: Flexible pipes that connect the radiator to the engine and the rest of the cooling system.
