What are the different types of radiators in big trucks?

The main differences between the types of radiators in big trucks are primarily the construction materials used. Dura-Lite manufactures radiators with Plastic Tank/ Aluminum Core, All Aluminum, Steel Tank/ Copper Brass Core, and Brass Tank/ Copper Core.

Dura-Lite Big Truck Radiators Feature:

  • Heavy-Duty copper/brass Bolt-On Steel Tank Radiators have additional structural support where it matters the most.
  • Heavy-Duty Plastic Tank Radiators offer heavier gauge headers for unsurpassed durability, in addition to extra header-stiffening plates to eliminate leaks. These reinforced headers and extra-stiffening plates are designed to prevent leaks from happening between the header, and the tanks and tubes.
  • All of our radiators have a higher efficiency core design and reinforced tubes to provide an added level of strength.
This leads to a higher level of durability and longevity to keep your big truck out of the shop and on the road!

Some Dura-Lite radiators also include integrated oil coolers as part of the cooling system. These coolers help regulate the temperature of the engine and/ or transmission oil, ensuring optimal lubrication and performance.

Dura-Lite has made improvements to the standard OE radiator to reinforce areas that are commonly prone to failure. Dura-Lite tanks are built tougher to hold up and flex under pressure. This stops stress cracking that can happen with other less flexible radiators.
